Sega Mega Drive 2

Installing switchless region changer mod and triple bypass. I would say this is an advanced mod, not too difficult in general, but you have to solder to a tiny vias and traces. There are also a few traces to cut and IC legs to lift, but these are simple with proper tools.

Does not look very neat, but it does the job.

JP3 had a jumper installed on my board, this was not mentioned in instructions, but I assumed I had to remove it.

I had to cut some bottom shielding below the first controller because it would cut those green cables a bit and short to ground…

Triple Bypass Version 2

The original sound quality of this Mega Drive 2 was terrible. Back in the day kids of course did not notice such a thing, but now with proper speakers it is evident how bad was the sound quality on some models. This also improves video quality, but that was less of a problem IMHO.

Here is a very good tutorial on installing this mod https://consolemods.org/wiki/Genesis:Triple_Bypass_Mod_Model_2_VA0

Final look of the back of the board. You have to cut the bottom shielding for this to actually fit.

Why does this joystick has dpad problems?

Just look at this. I wonder what they were thinking designing this…
