This is a Japanese imported console, came with single controller. The console was in a good shape, never opened before. Since it is a Japanese console it has 110V power supply. That requires using quite bulky power transformer or replacing PSU using ReSaturn PSU mod. Installation is straightforward, just need to set correct voltages using jumpers, my console is V2. The next and most important mod is replacing optical drive with Fenrir ODE. This was also very simple mod. For complete Saturn game collection I recommend looking up Sega Saturn Champion Collection, this includes translated and otherwise playable Japanese games. These all fit into 250 GB SD card (with some sports games removed).

Originally I had 3D printed a bracket to hold Fenrir in place. I’ve seen other doing the same on Youtube. The model itself is terrible for printing, need a lot of work with plyers and knife afterwards. When actually fitting it in place I came to realization that it’s pretty much useless. There is no problem accessing SD card without it. The ODE is not secured by screws, just mounts on two pillars and is held by cables.

Another thing that is pretty much essential is a Sega Saturn All in One Cartridge With Pseudo Saturn Kai. This cartridge has a switch on top that toggles between following features: 1MB RAM, 4MB RAM and 8MB Memory Card. So basically instead of switching different cartridges you switch the toggle and keep cartridge socket safe. This cartridge also provides region free gaming.

Pseudo Saturn Kai has quite a bit better menu than Fenrir, but I noticed that some games fail to start when executed using Kai menu, but works when using Fenrir menu. Maybe it’s some bug, but nevertheless need to keep this in mind.

Modding Sega Saturn is easy and everyone with a screwdriver can do this.

Of course mods and accessories needed might get much more expensive than the actual console, but I believe it’s worth it. Here is a list of stuff that you will need or potentially want to have:

• Console itself (region does not matter).
• ReSaturn PSU mod.
• 12V 5A power supply.
• 256GB micro SD card (any card is compatible).
• RGB SCART cable (if using CRT).
• 6Player multitap and additional controllers.
• 3D controller for show-off.
• Lightgun or probably two of them.
